The word cloning means “copying”. Medical cloning means copying the genes, cells or live tissues and reproducing them using specific methods in laboratory environment. Cloning may be confused with stem cell therapy. But the two are different methods.

Cloning is a method that was introduced to our lives with the cloned sheep dolly, and is still being researched. Cloning is prohibited in many countries due to social and moral reasons. But there is no prohibition in treatment of patients and aesthetic applications. What is prohibited in cloning is the complete cloning of a living creature or a human being.

The process of reproducing the hair follicles by specially developed methods in laboratory environment is called hair cloning. There is no social or moral inconvenience in hair cloning. Although hair transplantation is considered as an aesthetic operation, health information is very important. This is same for hair cloning. The hair reproduced in laboratory environment should be transplanted to the patient in hospital environment.

Hair cloning is the process of cloning and reproducing in laboratory environment the hair follicle taken by keeping its main codes the same. The hair follicles reproduced are grown in laboratory environment. When the hair follicles prepared in laboratory environment are transplanted to the person, the person does not face any health problems. However, adaptation problem is experienced in the hair follicles cloned and the rate of success after transplantation is very low. Therefore, hair transplantation using hair cloning method is not recommended. But researches in hair cloning method are continuing.
